Canon SD630 camera memory card and battery lasting?
I want to know what kind of memory card is the best for an SD630 camera. I have one SD 2G.B memory card right now, but when I video tape it doesn't store a lot.
-How many pictures can it contains for 2G.B memory card and how long can it shot video for?
-Which is the best type of memory card for Canon SD630?
-Is there anyway when using the camera for the battery to last longer?
If your camera can use SDHC (High Capacity), then you can get up to 8GB cards, soon to be 16GB. But, they will be costly. An 8GB from a quality company(Lexar/Sandisk) will set you back about $200. But, they will be fast (write speed from the camera to the card) and high capacity. The best are 266x and 300x speeds.
In response to your questions:
1. the number of pictures/video time will vary based on the quality you have your camera set for. The higher the quality the larger the file the = less you can put on any card.
2. Any SD card will fit your camera. The better cards generally write faster to the card.
3. The battery will last longer is your camera has VR/IR and you turn it off. They are hogs. Best bet, buy spare batteries. I always carry two spares.
Two things to watch out for:
1. Make sure your camera can use SDHC or the newer UDMA cards before buying them. For example, you can get 4GB cards that are standard SD, SDHC, and UDMA.
2. Watch for counterfeit cards if you are buying Sandisk and Lexar. I stick to either buying from a well known on-line company, directly from the manufacturer, or from my local camera store. Rule of thumb - if the price is too good to believe, it is. Stay away!
